Meet Our A+ Coordinator



I am Amanda Gordon, the A+ and Magnet Coordinator.  I have been teaching at our school for 19 years.  I previously taught Art and am active across the school with the Yearbook, Hispanic Heritage Month, Multicultural Events, Black History Month, Social Media, the Art Department, and more.  I studied Studio Art Education at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro and completed my AIG certification from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte.  I am a National Board Certified Teacher and serve as a mentor to new teachers.  I am an original teacher leader in the the Winston-Salem/Forsyth County Teacher Academy.  I am the school representative for the WSFC Arts Council, a member of the Stokes County Arts Council, and stay active in my church as the webmaster.  I was the school Teacher of the Year in 2011, the Certified Instructional Support Person of the Year in 2023, won several blue ribbons at local fairs, have been awarded classroom grants, and have been featured in stories on Fox8, The Chronicle, the WSFCS District Blog, and the Stokes News.   Previously, I was nominated for the annual Gerri D. Howell Educator of the Year for North Carolina A+ Schools and was chosen to receive this award in 2016.  I also was named the Arts Educator of the Year 2016 in Winston-Salem/Forsyth County by the Winston-Salem/Forsyth County Arts Council and the Magnet Teacher of the Year for the district in 2017.  I was honored in 2021 by the North Carolina Art Education Association as the Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion Teacher of the Year.  I  maintain a personal blog/online gallery of my work at www.amandagordonart.blogspot.com.  To contact me, you may call me at school at 703-4102 or email me at aagordon@wsfcs.k12.nc.us.
